Welcome to Syd's Photogallery - Yokohama Page. This site is to
introduce you to the City of Yokohama where I live, with photos
(and others in the future) I've taken.
What is Yokohama? It's a port City in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, located next to Tokyo, the Capital of Japan. The Naka Ward, Yokohama, which the pictures are mostly about, is a small one, but filled with numerous sightseeing and other fun spots.
What's good about Yokohama? Unlike Tokyo which has now become a business/government center almost devoid of residential population, Yokohama is not just a foremost city but an integrated one, with business, shopping and entertainment centers and numerous historical spots. Most of these are located in a small area around the Port of Yokohama so you can go around them easily. The public transportation facilities are good. Most of the places can be accessed directly and quickly by bus. This is quite a difference from Tokyo and other major cities in Japan where you have to ride trains for hours to reach spots. Yokohama is also a town of Jazz. There are over 30 jazz clubs just in the Naka ward, featuring live performance by top-ranking Japanese musicians.
